October 10, 2024, RTU Promenade, Mandaluyong Main Campus. On the occasion of RTU’s 55th Foundation and 27th Universityhood celebrations, the university officially unveiled its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The ceremony’s theme “Empowering Change: Road to SDG Campus” signifies the university’s commitment to directing all its efforts on contributing to global initiatives for peace and prosperity for people and the planet. It is a pledge that RTU’s esteemed forerunners – top officials, deans, directors, and employees solemnized to pursue and work toward its realization.
Spearheaded by the International Affairs and Linkages Office (IALO) led by their Director, Mr. Donato Z. Estocada, the unveiling event convened key university officials including University President, Dr. Ma. Eugenia M. Yangco, Vice President for Finance and Administration (VPFA), Dr. Rodolfo L. Ducut, Vice President for Planning, Quality Assurance, and Strategic Initiatives (VP-PQASI), Dr. Salvacion J. Pachejo, and Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs (VPASA), Dr. Kristine Y. Opulencia, who expressed their messages of support mutually underpinning the vision of the university to become a transnational university committed to creating a sustainable future for the generations to come.
Dr. Engelbert C. Pasag, Vice President for International Linkages from Panpacific University, keynoted the ceremony sharing his university’s best practices, and challenging the RTU university officials present to embed RTU’s internationalization strategies into the matrix of the SDGs. He also underscored that the SDGs corner would serve as a reminder of the academe’s commitment to creating a sustainable future for all and making it a vibrant and dynamic space for Innovation, Collaboration, and Education.
As the event drew to a close, the RTU’s SDG ambassadors were introduced followed by the presentation of the university’s foreign students pinned RTU’s strategic agenda for globalization as a testament to the quality of its instruction program which has now slowly gained a global impact, producing a significant paradigm change.
