No Poverty: RTU empowers students with skills and knowledge to break the cycle of poverty through quality education and community outreach.
RTU’s outreach programs and community immersion initiatives form part of its instructional agenda that enable students to experience firsthand and become aware of the real-life situation where poverty has become a way of life, especially for those without access to education.
One of the university’s initiatives is Kabuhayan sa Kabuti, which empowers marginalized sectors by providing training on mushroom cultivation, offering them a sustainable livelihood opportunity. RTU’s Urban Agriculture Research and Development program also addresses food security and income generation in urban settings by promoting innovative agricultural practices suited for limited spaces. Additionally, Proyektong Kalinga supports students from low-income families by providing essential school supplies, easing the financial burden on their families. Several projects from RTU’s Extension and Community Services Office focus on livelihood assistance and skills development for impoverished communities, Together, these initiatives reflect RTU’s commitment to poverty alleviation and inclusive development, in line with global efforts to eradicate poverty.
