RTU HRMO Hosts Re-Orientation Seminar on Ethics in Public Service

To reinforce awareness of ethical standards and legal compliance in the public sector, the Rizal Technological University’s (RTU) Human Resource Management Office (HRMO) organized a comprehensive seminar titled “D.E.T.O.U.R. in the Public Sector – Diving into Ethics of Public Service: Taking Opportunities to Understand RA 6713 and 2017 RACCS.” The event took place on April 18, 2024, at the Plenary Hall of the DJVE Building, RTU’s Main Campus.

The seminar centered around two critical legal frameworks: the “Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees” and the “2017 Rules on Administrative Cases in the Civil Service.” Through interactive discussions, expert presentations, and open forums, participants delved deep into these regulations, aiming to enhance their comprehension and application in their respective roles within the public service.

One of the key highlights of the seminar was the presence of esteemed speaker Atty. Ariel V. Villanueva, whose expertise illuminated various aspects of ethical conduct and legal obligations for public servants. Members of middle and top management had the opportunity to engage directly with Atty. Villanueva, benefiting from his insights and clarifications on complex legal matters.

The seminar adopted a face-to-face format, fostering direct interaction among participants and facilitating a dynamic exchange of ideas. Diverse methodologies, including pre-tests, post-tests, and interactive discussions, were employed to gauge the extent of learning acquisition and ensure the effectiveness of the session.

By equipping participants with a deeper understanding of ethical standards and legal frameworks, the re-orientation seminar aimed to empower public officials and employees to uphold integrity and accountability in their service to the community. Such initiatives play a crucial role in nurturing a culture of ethical conduct and fostering public trust in government institutions.
