RTU Employees Attend POAP Seminar on Developing Effective Work Teams

Personnel from Rizal Technological University (RTU) recently participated in the Personnel Officers Association of the Philippines, Inc. (POAP) seminar on “Developing Effective Work Teams,” held from July 9-12, 2024, at Costa Palawan Resort, Puerto Princesa, Palawan. The event saw the attendance of around 170 participants, mainly personnel from various local and national government agencies including State Universities and Colleges (SUCs).

Representing RTU at the seminar were Asst. Prof. John Eric Estrellado, Dr. Sheila Manahan, Instr. Gerald Daguplo, and Ms. Ma. Teresa Generales from the University Public Affairs Office (UPAO). Additionally, Instr. Shaira Rona and Instr. Gabriela Felipe from the Human Resource Management Office (HRMO) also attended. The seminar featured a notable guest speaker, Dr. Evelyn D. Cruzada, former President of Leyte Normal University, who shared her extensive experience and insights.

Participants engaged in various topics crucial for effective team development, including types and processes of work teams, roles within teams, organizational behavior, fostering a strong team culture, building high-performing teams, and conflict resolution strategies. The seminar aimed to enhance the skills and knowledge of personnel, equipping them with practical tools to foster collaboration and efficiency within their respective organizations.

Instr. Daguplo remarked, “The seminar provided valuable insights into the dynamics of work team management. The knowledge gained will surely contribute to improving our teamwork.” With a focus on cultivating strong, high-performing teams, the seminar was a significant step toward empowering personnel across various government sectors to achieve excellence through effective teamwork.
