RTU GSDO Gathers the Executive and Technical Working Committee for a Gender and Development Focal Point System Briefing

The Rizal Technological University (RTU) Gender Development and Studies Office (GSDO) convened the Executive and Technical Working Committees for a comprehensive discussion on the Gender and Development Focal Point System (GDFPS).

The briefing was structured into two sessions held in the morning and afternoon. Atty. Allen Liberato-Espino led the morning session with the Executive Committee, focusing on the roles and responsibilities of the GFPS. She emphasized the importance of strategic direction in fulfilling gender mainstreaming commitments. In addition, Atty. Espino addressed prevailing gender stereotypes and prejudices, providing critical insights into their societal impacts. She also elaborated on the Magna Carta of Women—its legislative history, key provisions, and its significance in advancing the protection and empowerment of women in various sectors.

In the afternoon, the Technical Committee Briefing delved deeper into the operational aspects of the GFPS. The session covered essential functions and planning strategies related to Gender and Development (GAD), followed by an interactive workshop. During the workshop, participants identified priority GAD programs and activities tailored to the institutional needs of RTU.

This initiative reaffirms RTU’s steadfast commitment to fostering a just, inclusive, and gender-responsive academic and working environment. By implementing such programs and continuing capacity-building efforts, the university strengthens its alignment with GAD principles and contributes to the broader goal of inclusive governance and social equity.
