Executives and accreditors from Rizal Technological University (RTU) participated in the 37th Annual National Conference and General Assembly organized by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP). Held from March 20 to 22, 2024, at the Century Park Hotel in Manila, the event drew participation from various State Colleges and Universities (SUCs) across the country. Notable figures representing RTU included Dr. Ma. Eugenia M. Yangco, the University President; Dr. Kristine Y. Opulencia, Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs (VPASA); Dr. Magno M. Quendangan, Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Extension Services (VPRIES); Dr. Salvacion J. Pachejo, Vice President for Planning, Quality Assurance, and Strategic Initiatives (VPPQASI); and Dr. Edna P. Conwi, Director of Quality Assurance Office (QAO), along with 16 trained accreditors from RTU.
The overarching theme of the three-day conference was “Sustaining a Workplace Culture of Quality Assurance and Accreditation.” Deliberations centered on key objectives, including the sharing of best practices aimed at perpetuating a culture of quality assurance and accreditation among SUCs, strengthening institutional policies and governance pertinent to quality assurance and accreditation with an eye toward sustainable development for Higher Education, exploring approaches to enhancing the internalization of quality assurance and accreditation within institutions for more comprehensive implementation, and emphasizing the importance of engaging both internal and external stakeholders in nurturing a culture of excellence in higher education through quality assurance and accreditation processes.
The presence of RTU executives and accreditors at the AACCUP’s 37th Annual National Conference and General Assembly accentuated the university’s dedication to upholding and advancing standards of quality in higher education.
As the conference concluded, the participants returned to their home universities with renewed inspiration and determination to further elevate the quality of education in the Philippines through ongoing improvement efforts and collaborative endeavors in their local institutions.
