The Counselling and Assessment Services Unit (CASU), formerly known as the Guidance and Counseling Services Center (GCSC) of Rizal Technological University (RTU), conducted the Guidance Week Celebration held on April 23 at the RTU Quadrangle with the theme “Walk with Guidance: Moving More for Our Mental Health,” aiming to promote mental well-being among students and faculty alike.
The event commenced with a Parade of Colors, featuring participants from diverse sectors, including CASU personnel, guidance advocates, RTU-CASU peer facilitators, College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) department heads, and student leaders. Setting the stage for an inspiring day ahead, Dr. Marc DG Garvida, Dean, Office of Students and Alumni Affairs Services (OSAAS), delivered a welcoming comment. Alongside an uplifting message from Dr. Kristine Y. Opulencia, Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs (VPASA), set the tone for a reflection, growth, and unity day.
At the heart of the celebration were a series of captivating activities orchestrated by BS Psychology students, peer facilitators, and the Integrated Psychology Students Association (IPSA). Each segment of the Psychology Department showcased unique themes such as “Psychocolate Factory, Malestiny, Psychventure Time, and Psych in Borderland,” drawing inspiration from beloved movies. These innovative programs not only fostered a more engaging academic community but also provided students with avenues to explore interests beyond conventional coursework, unearth latent talents, hone skills, and cultivate lasting bonds.
The success of the event was made possible through the support of key figures, including Asst. Prof. Emmanuel Santiago, CASU Head, Dr. Rodrigo DP. Tomas, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), Asst. Prof. Kathleen Ryan B. Bobadilla, RPsy, Dept. Head of BS Psychology, CASU Personnel, 3rd-year BS Psychology students enrolled in the Disaster and Mental Health subject, and RTU Peer Facilitators.
