The Philippine Association of Schools, Universities, and Colleges in the National Capital Region (PASUC-NCR) 11th Culture and Arts Festival concluded with pride and excellence, conveying resilience and fortitude as various cultural competitions unfolded from February 27 to 29, 2024.
This grand regional celebration, themed “Paghilom, Pagbangon, at Pagsulong,” resonates like a numinous mantra for the academic communities that triumphed over seemingly insurmountable predicaments. The festivities reflect that we have overcome all odds. As we continue to create avenues for our youth to showcase their talents and engage in friendly dance, music, visual, and dramatic arts competitions—an expression and representation of the culture we are identified with and the arts that define our ethos—we paint a tableau of diverse cultural heritage.
Competing schools such as Rizal Technological University (RTU), Philippine Normal University (PNU), Philippine State College of Aeronautics (PHILSCA), Eulogio “Amang” Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology (EARIST), Technological University of the Philippines (TUP), Marikina Polytechnic College (MPC), and Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) take pride in their victories in different categories yet show appreciation for the prowess that their challengers have displayed, turning the win into a well-deserved feat.
During the festival, artists and performers marked notable achievements in a significant number of events, showcasing skills honed for this occasion. This annual observance and exhibition of talents and skills have become a tradition entwined into the very fabric of the academic tapestry, making learning holistic and universal.
The three-day celebration reached its pinnacle with the crowning of the 11th PASUC Mr. and Ms. SCUAA-NCR 2024. The jubilant and proud university coaching corps, expressing uncontained mirth over their wards’ remarkable achievements, ushered the occasion to its conclusion.
The highlights that each participating university eagerly anticipated were the winnings and pride captured in different categories. Suffice it to say that they all fared well and brought home their respective shares in the accolades.
The Festival, in its entirety, has commendably demonstrated the essence of “Paghilom, Pagbangon, at Pagsulong” which is explicitly characterized by the unreserved engagement of the seven institutions to orchestrate this year’s festival of culture and arts gaining prestige that comes with it.
