Last 29th of March 2023, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed by the Rizal Technological University (RTU) and the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordination Agency (PNVSCA) to incorporate volunteerism into all of RTU’s programs and activities. The signing was led by the University President, Dr. Ma. Eugenia M. Yangco and the PNVSCA Executive Director, Mr. Donald James D. Gawe. This MOU on volunteerism between PNVSCA and RTU is a first for a university in the National Capital Region (NCR) and the tenth in the nation.
RTU will designate/establish a Volunteerism Office in the University as part of the partnership; actively engage its academic and non-academic personnel, students, and alumni on volunteerism; assist PNVSCA in the promotion and advocacy of volunteerism for nation-building and development; carry out volunteerism research; and support PNVSCA in developing volunteerism statistics. While PNVSCA will supply the University with pertinent data and materials for promoting and supporting volunteerism, RTU will get technical assistance from PNVSCA to develop its volunteerism-related programs and projects.
RTU is overjoyed about this collaboration, and being a partner of the PNVSCA is something the University is quite proud of. RTU will assist the PNVSCA in pursuit of the provisions of Republic Act 9418, also known as the Volunteer Act of 2007 and in reviving the volunteerism spirit, particularly among the younger generation.
