University Extensionists Empower Paluan, Occidental Mindoro LGU Employees in Digital Tools for Governance

On June 17-22, 2025, faculty extensionists from Rizal Technological University (RTU) conducted an extension program titled “Digital Tools for Governance: Advanced Training in Data Management, Visualization, and Media Creation for Paluan LGU Employees.” Led by Instructors Kyle Nicole F. Alcantara, Jhon Christopher S. Labao, and Mylene C. Prado, the training aimed to enhance the digital skills of local government employees of the Municipality of Paluan, Occidental Mindoro to improve data management and public communication.

Recognizing the importance of efficient data handling and multimedia communication in local governance, the program focused on teaching participants how to organize, analyze, and visualize data using advanced computer applications. Additionally, the training covered the use of digital media tools such as Canva, CapCut, Adobe Photoshop, and Lightroom to create engaging content for public information campaigns.

The six-day workshop combined lectures and hands-on activities, allowing participants to immediately apply their learning. The program concluded with a culminating activity where attendees showcased projects integrating data visualization and creative media production, demonstrating their improved skills.

Participants reported increased confidence in managing data and producing multimedia content, which is expected to enhance transparency, decision-making, and community engagement in Paluan. This training marks a significant step toward modernizing governance through digital innovation.
