The Rizal Technological University (RTU) Resource Generation and Auxiliary Services Office–Dormitory Services Unit (RGASO-DSU) conducted a benchmarking visit to the Bulacan State University (BulSU) Hostel on October 6, 2026, as part of its continuing efforts to strengthen dormitory operations and support the planned development of the RTU University Dormitory as an Income-Generating Project (IGP).
The activity provided the RTU delegation with valuable insights into BulSU’s operational practices, administrative systems, and strategies for managing a university-based accommodation facility. Through discussions and an ocular visit, the delegation gained practical knowledge on staffing arrangements, housekeeping, guest classification, accommodation rates and discounts, procurement and pricing practices, financial management, and the implementation of operational policies.
Particular attention was given to BulSU’s annual review of its Operations Manual, the assignment of personnel to monitor hostel floors, the use of On-the-Job Trainees (OJTs) to support daily operations, and the implementation of centralized payment processing through the University Cashier. These practices offered relevant insights into improving operational efficiency, strengthening accountability, and promoting financial sustainability.
The benchmarking activity also highlighted the importance of maintaining well-defined procedures, effective resource utilization, and customer-oriented services in managing a university accommodation facility. The knowledge gained will serve as a valuable reference for RTU RGASO-DSU in developing appropriate policies, operational systems, and service standards for its planned university dormitory.
RTU RGASO-DSU extends its sincere appreciation to Bulacan State University, its administration, and the BulSU Hostel Management, headed by Hotel Manager Dr. Princess Catherine De Jesus, for their warm hospitality and generous sharing of knowledge and institutional practices.
This benchmarking initiative reinforces RTU’s commitment to continuous improvement, institutional collaboration, and the delivery of safe, affordable, efficient, and sustainable accommodation services for the university community.
