March 13, 2025—The Rizal Technological University (RTU) Business Resource Generation and Auxiliary Services Office (BRGASO) and Food Services Office (FSO) conducted a benchmarking activity on Food Safety and Policies with the University of Makati (UMak) on March 13, 2025. The activity aimed to enhance RTU’s food safety standards and concessionaire policies, ensuring that the university provides safe, nutritious, and high-quality food to its students and staff.
The RTU delegation was led by FSO Director, Dr. Rhodora D. Lintot, accompanied by her staff members, Ms. Vaneza Mae P. Casi and Ms. Sean Elain L. Borja. They were joined by Instr. Glee Cielle A. Follero, Director of the Business Affairs Office (BAO), alongside Ms. Fatima Andrade, BAO’s Sales and Promotion Supervisor I. Representatives from the Printing Services Unit (PPSU) included Ms. Ma. Schanine D. Orig, PPSU Head, and Mr. Arche Mapili, Production Staff. Also in attendance were Asst. Prof. Marie Joy C. Jorduela, Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of BRGASO, together with Instr. Marvin A. Fuentes, Supervising Administrative Officer (SAO), and Instr. Ellen Joy Latina, BRGASO staff.
Throughout the visit, the UMak team shared best practices in food safety management, focusing on sanitation and hygiene protocols. The RTU representatives observed how the UMak concessionaires strictly adhered to cleanliness standards, including proper food handling, preparation, and storage practices.
The activity also explored the contract provisions for food and non-food tenants, highlighting clauses related to safety, quality assurance, and environmental responsibility. The RTU delegation reviewed UMak’s guidelines on sourcing from reputable suppliers, proper labeling of food products, and the use of eco-friendly packaging materials, which align with sustainable practices. Lastly, the benchmarking session touched on Income-Generating Projects (IGPs).
Through initiatives like this, RTU continues to uphold its dedication to health and safety, and service excellence, fostering a healthier and more resilient campus community.
