Rizal Technological University (RTU) reinforced its commitment to sustainability and climate resilience by forging a strategic partnership with the Climate Change Task Force (CCTF) during the 2026 CCTF Command Conference, held at the RTU Mandaluyong Campus on June 26, 2026.
The partnership was formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), signifying both institutions’ shared commitment to advancing climate change education, research, innovation, community extension, and capacity-building initiatives that contribute to national climate resilience and sustainable development.
Representing RTU were Dr. Magno M. Quendangan, Vice President for Research, Innovation and Extension Services, and Assoc. Prof. Donato Z. Estocada, Director of the International Affairs and Linkages Office (IALO).
Representing the Climate Change Task Force were Dr. Richard Nixon Gomez, CCTF Senior Deputy Commandant, and Ret. BGen. Gerardo M. Zamudio, Jr., CCTF Commandant.
The collaboration seeks to strengthen partnerships in climate-related research, knowledge exchange, extension programs, policy advocacy, disaster risk reduction, environmental stewardship, and community engagement. Through this partnership, RTU aims to harness its academic expertise and innovation ecosystem in developing science-based solutions that address the growing challenges posed by climate change while empowering local communities to become more resilient.
As RTU continues to position itself as a university with purpose, the newly established partnership reflects the institution’s unwavering dedication to producing innovative solutions, empowering communities, and building a more sustainable and climate-resilient future for the nation.
