September 10, 2024 – The Rizal Technological University (RTU) community united once again to extend support to families affected by the devastating effects of Bagyong Enteng in the Province of Rizal. Donations collected through the university-led initiative, PROYEKTONG KABALIKAT, were turned over to the No One In Need Foundation Inc. as part of ongoing relief efforts.
Spearheaded by the Extension and Community Services Office (ECSO) of RTU, PROYEKTONG KABALIKAT was launched as an emergency donation drive to provide immediate assistance to storm-stricken communities. The initiative mobilized the entire university, including students, faculty, staff, alumni, and external donors, to gather essential items such as non-perishable food, bottled water, hygiene kits, and first-aid supplies.
Various university offices, including the Administrative Services Office (ASO), Financial Management Services Office (FMSO), and the University Public Affairs Office (UPAO), played vital roles in organizing and executing the outreach project. Their collaborative efforts ensured a seamless and transparent operation, demonstrating the importance of teamwork in times of crisis.
Aside from the donated goods gathered from September 3-9, the donation drive also raised PHP 7,018.45 in cash that were used to purchase much-needed hygiene items. On September 10, the donations were packed and transported to distribution sites in coordination with the university’s Transport Services Unit (TSU) and Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (DRRMO).
Despite facing logistical challenges and the need for continuous communication with donors, PROYEKTONG KABALIKAT proved to be an astounding success. The initiative provided critical relief to families impacted by the storm and underscored the power of community solidarity and effective disaster response.
“The success of PROYEKTONG KABALIKAT highlights the importance of preparedness, collaboration, and transparency in disaster management,” said Instr. Ricardo H. Momongan, Jr. Director of ECSO. “This initiative has strengthened our sense of shared responsibility and compassion within the RTU community,” he added.
As the university reflects on PROYEKTONG KABALIKAT’s success, it stands as a model for future relief efforts. The project’s coordinated approach reminds us of the profound impact that collective action can have in times of need.
