Ensuring that the future careers of Rizaliano alumni and graduating students are safeguarded from exploitation and suspicious job opportunities, Rizal Technological University (RTU) and the Department of Migrant Worker (DMW) once again brought awareness to jobseeking Rizalianos through its collaboration program, Career Ready 2.0: “Spot It, Stop It, Report It”, on September 1, 2026, through hybrid setup with participants joining virtually through Zoom.

Career Ready 2.0 aimed to equip participants with essential knowledge, awareness, and vigilance to prepare and inform them in becoming responsible jobseekers. It also sought to strengthen the participants’ ability to recognize and respond to potential risks associated with employment opportunities, particularly illegal recruitment and trafficking in persons.

Marking the commencement of the program was the message of Dr. Magno M. Quendangan, Vice President for Research, Innovation and Extension Services, who welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of preparing graduating students and alumni for their transition into the workforce. This was followed by inspirational messages from Dr. Ma. Eugenia M. Yangco, University President, and Mr. Clark B. Briz, Chief of the Migrant Workers Processing Division-NCR and Concurrent Chief of the Protection Division-NCR. Ms. Elizabeth D. Mirabueno also delivered her message of support for the activity. Their messages encouraged the participants to be proactive, well-informed, and vigilant in pursuing employment opportunities and making career-related decisions.

At the midpoint of the session, Atty. Falconi V. Millar, DMW Regional Director, also delivered a message to the participants, further emphasizing the importance of awareness and preparedness among young professionals entering the workforce.

The first major learning session was the Pre-Employment Orientation, facilitated by Mr. Mahvrick S. De Leon and Ms. Sophia Coleen S. Padilla of the Migrant Workers Capacity Development Division. The session provided the graduating students and alumni with relevant information and guidance to help them prepare for employment and make informed decisions as they navigate the job market.

Atty. Jayrard M. Casao, Attorney III of the Migrant Workers Protection Division, then facilitated the Anti-Illegal Recruitment and Trafficking in Persons (AIRTIP) Seminar. The session focused on enhancing participants’ awareness of illegal recruitment and trafficking in persons. Given that graduating students and alumni may encounter various local and overseas employment opportunities, the seminar emphasized the importance of being cautious and discerning when evaluating job offers. Participants were encouraged to recognize possible warning signs of illegal recruitment and trafficking and to be aware of the appropriate actions and reporting mechanisms when confronted with suspicious recruitment activities.

Career Ready 2.0: “Spot It, Stop It, Report It” provided RTU graduating students and alumni with timely and practical information as they prepare to pursue their professional careers. The program not only strengthened their employment readiness but also enhanced their awareness of the risks associated with illegal recruitment and trafficking in persons.

Through the collaborative efforts of DMW and Pandayang Rizalia, the activity empowered future professionals to make informed, safe, and responsible decisions in pursuing employment opportunities.
