FSO Empowers Concessionaires for Stronger Campus Food Safety

As part of its commitment to food safety and service excellence, Rizal Technological University (RTU), through the Food Services Office (FSO), spearheaded the second leg of capability development training for in-campus food concessionaires. Under the leadership of Dr. Rhodora D. Lintot and in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), the training session, held on May 16, 2025, at the Blue Room, focused on food labeling and food additives, equipping concessionaires with vital knowledge to enhance their practices.

This initiative underscores RTU’s dedication to ensuring food safety and empowering its concessionaires, who play a crucial role in serving the Rizaliano community. Through expert-led discussions, participants gained valuable insights into FDA-compliant food labeling, food additive policies, and best food safety practices—critical components in providing high-quality, safe, and nutritious meals to the university.

Dr. Lintot shared her extensive expertise in the service industry, offering practical strategies on customer engagement and retention, particularly in fostering meaningful connections with students. Mr. Carlos Antonio M. Peña delivered a compelling discussion on regulatory-compliant food labeling, reinforcing the importance of transparency and adherence to standards.

Beyond enhancing business acumen, these capability-building initiatives ensure that RTU food providers uphold the highest standards, creating a safe, healthy, and nourishing campus environment. By prioritizing food safety and professional excellence, RTU continues to strengthen the well-being of the Rizaliano community—one meal at a time.
