Pandayang Rizalia Commemorates Women’s Month at the March 2026 Flag Raising Ceremony

In celebration of the courage, strength, and leadership of women, Rizal Technological University held its monthly flag raising ceremony on March 16, 2026, under the theme “Lead Like the Babaylans, Filipinas!”, the national theme promulgated by the Philippine Commission on Women for this year’s Women’s Month celebrations.

Sponsored by the Gender Studies and Development Office, led by its Director, Instr. Shereen Yanna Cadileña, the ceremony was facilitated by female leaders from various offices.

Instr. Cadileña, in her message, likened modern Filipinas to the old Babaylans, emphasizing that women’s contemporary roles are as noble and passionate as the Babaylans’ leadership. She said that the spirit of Babaylans’ leadership and service is alive in mothers who nurture their families, in teachers who shape students’ future, in leaders who serve with integrity, and in women, and even men, who continue to fight for equality and dignity.

Dr. Emily Concepcion, Head of the Health Services Unit, also delivered her monthly address, stressing the importance of women’s health. She gave important health advice focusing on menstrual health as she highlighted a female power that sets women apart—the ability to give birth.

As part of the commemoration, the Health and Wellness Committee of RTU called on employees to participate in new health and wellness programs, including “Healthy You, RTU,” Weekly Dance Fitness Sessions, the Wednesday Walk Program, and mental health initiatives.

Rizaliano talents also joined in honoring women. Assoc. Prof. Macrina Mutuc, Marybeth Miranda, and Ms. Patricia Nieva serenaded the crowd with their rendition of Christina Aguilera’s “Beautiful,” capturing women’s beauty, strength, and self-respect through music. Select GADvocates (Gender and Development Advocates) also performed a heartwarming interpretative dance of Nica Del Rosario’s Rosas. Kultura Rizalia, the University’s Dance Troupe, also performed cultural and contemporary dance numbers, masterfully showcasing Filipina heritage complemented by modern talent and music.

As an institution led by an empowered woman, RTU pays tribute to the vital role of Filipinas as drivers of innovation, leadership, and national progress. University President Dr. Ma.

True to the words of Instr. Cadileña, gender equality, and inclusivity are not just words in RTU, but a culture lived by all Rizalianos.
