Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure: RTU develops advanced technologies and infrastructure to support industrial innovation and modernization.

RTU initiated several programs and projects in response to the rapidly changing economic landscape. It developed and patented a solar-powered automated mushroom house, an urban planting structure, an energy monitoring system, an automatic sprinkler irrigation system for urban gardening, and a cement mixer and sand siever machine. These innovations support the university’s initiatives to enhance and uplift the lives of the people in the communities it serves.

The University also supported the installation of P-POTEKA weather stations on its campuses – Boni, Pasig, and Baras. These weather stations provide data about the basic weather data parameters and local and national lightning information for fast and real-time delivery of localized weather data reports.

Another remarkable innovation by the RTU- Center for Astronomy Research and Development (CARD) is the Pollution Luminance (POLLUX) and its Mobility Device (PMD) which can measure spectral (artificial light) and air quality data. Both can also measure the ambient light from a point similar to the foot candle meter but in lux units. These devices have been vital instruments for gathering data for research studies, especially by students and faculty of the Department of Earth and Space Sciences (DESS).

These innovations are testaments to the university’s response to change and its springboard to strengthen its ability to challenge the next emerging fifth Industrial Revolution.

RTU’s participation in the “2022 Asia Pacific Conference on Curriculum Studies and Instructional Design” reflects its commitment to innovative instructional methodologies that enhance both industry and education sectors. By sharing and adopting cutting-edge curriculum designs, RTU fosters a learning environment that meets the demands of an evolving industrial landscape. RTU also demonstrates leadership in sustainable construction through its initiative to build “decent, durable, efficient, and affordable homes” with complete electrical wiring installations, utilizing advanced engineering technologies. This project addresses housing challenges by integrating cost-effective and innovative solutions in infrastructure development. Additionally, the construction of an ALS (Alternative Learning System) Room with a Provision for Children with Special Needs Hub exemplifies RTU’s dedication to inclusive infrastructure, ensuring that educational facilities are accessible and equipped for diverse learners. These initiatives underscore RTU’s role in advancing industry and infrastructure through innovation, inclusivity, and sustainability, aligning with global efforts to create resilient, forward-looking communities.
