September 10, 2026 — Rizal Technological University (RTU) strengthened its commitment to collaborative research, development, and innovation as its official representatives participated in the 2026 1st General Assembly Meeting of the Metropolitan Manila Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development Consortium (MMIEERDC) held at the OZA Building of Adamson University.

Representing RTU were Assoc. Prof. John Eric O. Estrellado, Director of the Research Management Office; Engr. Joven Baltazar, Research Coordinator of the College of Engineering; and Engr. Jaymer G. Punzalan, Head of the Technology Business Incubator.

Themed around advancing collaboration in research and development, the assembly brought together representatives from member higher education institutions and partner organizations to discuss initiatives to strengthen research partnerships, technology development, and innovation within the Metropolitan Manila area.

The meeting featured presentations on the updated MMIEERDC Key Focus Areas, the creation of R&D clusters and identification of participants for industry consortiums (sector-specific), and ways forward and closing remarks. These discussions highlighted the consortium’s ongoing efforts to strengthen linkages among academic institutions, government agencies, industry partners, and other stakeholders to support research and development.

RTU’s participation in the assembly underscores the University’s active role in regional research and innovation networks. The University’s participation also reinforces its commitment to building meaningful partnerships that can translate research and innovation into practical solutions and opportunities for the communities and industries it serves.
