
Rizal Technological University’s International Affairs and Linkages Office (IALO) held an orientation on July 18, 2024, titled “Transforming Education: Aligning Curriculum with Global Standards and the Philippine Skills Framework.” The event took place at the University Blue Room and saw enthusiastic participation from college deans, program chairs, and selected faculty members.
The orientation aimed to bridge the gap between current educational practices and global standards, focusing on integrating the Philippine Skills Framework (PSF) into the curriculum. The keynote speakers for the event were Mr. Raymond Cardino, a Program Developer and PSF Advocate, and Ms. Jocelle Mamaril, Planning Officer IV of the Strategic Management Division and also a PSF Advocate from the Philippine Trade Training Center, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). They presented a comprehensive overview of the PSF, emphasizing its importance and applicability in enhancing the university’s curriculum.
In addition to the discussions on PSF, the event featured presentations from industry experts. Engr. Augusto C. Soliman, Executive Vice President of Hytec Power Inc., and Mr. Eman Estrera, Field Application Executive of Hytec, showcased advanced and innovative technologies that are crucial for the globalization of the curriculum. Their insights highlighted the need for integrating cutting-edge technology in educational programs to better prepare students for the global workforce.
The event was strongly supported by Dr. Ma. Eugenia M. Yangco, University President, and Dr. Kristine Y. Opulencia, Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs (VPASA). Their presence illuminates the university’s commitment to transforming education and aligning its curriculum with global standards.
Overall, the orientation was a significant step towards enhancing the quality of education at RTU, ensuring that students are equipped with the skills and knowledge required to thrive in a global standard.
