The Quality Assurance Office (QAO) of Rizal Technological University (RTU) successfully conducted a two-day Internal Audit Course anchored on the Educational Organization Management System (EOMS) ISO 21001:2018 standard on June 3-4, 2026, at the Blue Room of the Research and Development Building. The training was part of the university’s ongoing commitment to institutional quality management and compliance with internationally recognized standards for educational excellence.
The QAO spearheaded the activity under the directorship of Dr. Jack Robert B. Sablan, who delivered the Closing Remarks on the final day of the training. Dr. Sablan’s leadership of the QAO has been instrumental in advancing RTU’s quality assurance mechanisms and ensuring that the university’s educational management systems remain aligned with global benchmarks.
The program commenced with an Opening Program on Day 1 (June 3), which featured an Inspirational Message delivered by Dr. Salvacion J. Pachejo, Vice President for Planning, Quality Assurance, and Strategic Initiatives (PQASI). The speaker’s introduction was facilitated by AO Jane V. Talento, Deputy Director of the QAO, whose organizational acumen proved vital to ensuring the smooth execution of the event.
The training proper, which constituted the substantive core of both days, was facilitated by Dr. Jone Rechie L. Gigayon, the designated Resource Speaker. The sessions were structured to equip participants with the theoretical foundations and practical competencies needed to conduct internal audits in accordance with the ISO 21001:2018 framework, a standard designed to help educational organizations demonstrate their ability to meet the requirements of learners and other beneficiaries.
The two-day program was observed to follow a deliberate and systematic schedule. Day 1 featured the Training Proper. Day 2 (June 4) mirrored this rigorous structure, with training sessions. The two-day course was capped by the Closing Remarks and the singing of the RTU Hymn, underscoring the undertaking’s ceremonial significance as an institutional milestone.
ISO 21001:2018, the international standard on which this internal audit course is based, establishes a management system for educational organizations to enhance the satisfaction of learners and other beneficiaries through the effective application of educational systems. Internal audits conducted under this framework are a critical mechanism for evaluating whether an institution’s educational management systems conform to the standard’s requirements and are effectively implemented and maintained. In this context, the EOMS Internal Audit Course represents a strategic investment in RTU’s institutional capacity, positioning the university toward sustained quality assurance outcomes and future third-party certification endeavors.
The successful conduct of this training reaffirms RTU’s steadfast dedication to fostering a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement across all dimensions of its academic and administrative operations—consistent with its institutional mission.
