RTU – IHK Faculty and Students Undergo Sports Clinic Program at Kun Shan University in Tainan, Taiwan

The Rizal Technological University Institute of Human Kinetics (RTU-IHK), participated in a Sports Clinic Program from July 15-20, 2024 at Kun Shan University, Tainan, Taiwan.

The program is a collaborative initiative between RTU and Kun Shan University where the delegation of thirteen student-athletes and five faculty members have undergone a five-day sports clinic. The program also included a school tour, enterprise or company visit, and cultural calls to museums such as the National Museum of Taiwan Literature, Confucius Temple Cultural Park, and Chimei Museum. These visits were squeezed between training course sessions for both students and faculty.

To culminate the 5-day sports rendezvous, the delegation engaged in a friendly Taiwan-Philippines Exchange Tournament that marked the end of the sports clinic. Overall the tournament created and sealed a lasting connection between the two countries – a potential promise of more collaborative initiatives in the future.

The IHK students who participated were Sharon Mae M. Gonzales, Mitzie P. Llegunas, Elma S. Hernandez, Jan Christine B. Ferreras, Kristal Kate B. Tañega, Janross Q. Regondola, Mike Andrei E. Salceda, Bibek Crispin O. Gurung, Romar A. Llamado, Alfred Shane M. Colongon, Januarius Mike P. Santos, Ariel Jhon B. Recosana, and Edrome E. Funtanar. The accompanying IHK faculty was IHK Director Dr. Mark Joseph Santos, Sports Development Unit Head, Assoc. Prof. Arden Mark Santos, Scholarship and Financial Assistance Unit Head, Instr. Rhoda Malabanan, Quality Assurance Office Staff/IHK Faculty Asst. Prof Evelyn Dagami, and Data Protection Office Staff/IHK Faculty, Asst. Prof. Ryan B. Torres.

Nowadays, sports clinics represent a huge part of the youth sports landscape. The RTU-IHK constantly looking for opportunities for its student-athletes to enhance their skills, and acquire different levels of competitive advantage to excel while maintaining good health with increased self-confidence, improved mental health, and strong cross-country connections. Through the tireless efforts of the International Affairs and Linkages Office (IALO) Director, Instr. Donato Z. Estocada with his equally determined staff, this cross-country sports clinic program is a success.
