Rizal Technological University (RTU) successfully launched its first-ever AI Summit, a significant event focused on shaping the future of education and innovation through Generative AI. The summit took place on August 28, 2024, at the Penthouse of RTU Mandaluyong Main Campus, attracting prominent figures from the fields of technology, education, and government.
RTU International Affairs and Linkages Office (IALO) Director, Mr. Donato Z. Estocada gave opening remarks followed by inspiring messages from Dr. Ma. Eugenia M. Yangco, University President; Hon. Charisse Marie Abalos-Vargas, District 1 Councilor of Mandaluyong City; and Engr. Fortunato T. de la Peña, former Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).
Key discussions on innovative AI-driven solutions for education were led by Mr. Joseph H. Baek, CEO and Founder of Techedify, and Mr. Sammuel P. Sanclaria, Techedify’s Senior Software Engineer.
Additionally, the Institute of Computer Studies spearheaded a pitch competition titled “AI Frontier: Pitch Your Vision,” which allowed participants to showcase their innovative AI-driven solutions for education.
After the awarding ceremonies, remarks were given by Dr. Lea Nisperos, Director of the RTU Institute of Computer Studies; and Ms. Sara Jane S. Cruz, Techedify’s Business Development Manager. They mentioned that more initiatives and collaborations will be launched in the future to further expand teachers’ and students’ knowledge of AI technology. They also emphasized the importance of advancing technology to improve the quality of education and broaden the skills of teachers and students alike.
