The Rizal Technological University (RTU) Junior Marketing Association (JMA), under the leadership of Student Gov. Miguel Garcia, and the RTU College of Business, Entrepreneurship, and Accountancy (CBEA) BSBA Marketing Management Program, chaired by Instr. Christian Paul T. Mendoza, successfully organized a thought-provoking seminar titled Empowering Future Through P.E.G. (Peace, Environment, and Gender) on January 30, 2025, at SNAGAH Lobby RTU- Mandaluyong Main Campus.
This initiative aimed to cultivate a culture of peacebuilding, environmental sustainability, and gender equality among marketing students through expert discussions and interactive conversations. The event provided valuable insights that inspired students to advocate for peace, address environmental challenges, and promote gender inclusivity in their respective fields.
The seminar featured distinguished speakers from various disciplines. Instr. John Ramon Pesigan Eisma, emphasized the significance of peace in fostering a progressive society. Instr. Harvey C. Almadin, from the Department of Biology at the College of Arts and Sciences and a faculty researcher at the Mushroom Biotechnology and Research Development Unit, tackled critical environmental concerns such as ecological destruction, resource depletion, and climate change. Meanwhile, Dr. Shereen Yanna Bascao-Cadileña, Director of Gender Studies and Development, discussed gender inclusivity, discrimination, and the importance of ensuring equal access to leadership, work, and education for all genders.
Participants were encouraged to develop concrete strategies for environmental protection and sustainability. They also engaged in discussions on addressing gender biases, breaking stereotypes, and creating inclusive communities that uphold equality and fairness. The event not only educated students on pressing global issues but also empowered them to become active agents of positive change.
With its strong commitment to holistic education, RTU continues to foster meaningful conversations and initiatives that shape socially responsible and forward-thinking individuals.
