The Rizal Technological University (RTU) College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), under the leadership of its dean, Dr. Jeremiah V. Pacer, welcomed the Regional Quality Assurance Team (RQAT) from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) NCR Office on March 7, 2025 at the RDIO Conference Room at the R&D Bldg. of RTU Mandaluyong Main Campus for a thorough evaluation and on-site inspection of the Master of Arts in Psychology (MAP) Program. This visit was to ensure that the program is compliant to the minimum quality standards required by the Commission.
Present in the meeting were Mr. Sharn Rosmer Baluyot, CHED-NCR Education Supervisor II, and Ms. Charity Barrera, CHED OPSD Technical Staff, along with Technical Panel/Committee Member for Psychology, Mr. Hector M. Perez, making up the RQAT. In representation of RTU, several officials and CAS faculty members were present as well. These representatives include Dr. Kristine Y. Opulencia, Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs (VPASA); Dr. Salvacion J. Pachejo, Vice President for Planning, Quality Assurance, and Strategic Initiatives (VPPQASI); Dr. Jeremiah V. Pacer, Dean of CAS; Dr. Helen Mercedes C. Asturias, CAS Associate Dean; and several MAP Professional Lecturers, such as Asst. Prof. Amorsolo Espiritu, Asst. Prof. Dynehgre C. Villavicencio, Assoc. Prof. Joan B. Marasigan, Dr. Marivic Sanchez, Dr. Elena T. Paragas, Dr. Susan E. Puyat, Dr. Edna C. Aquino, and Dr. Faustino Oguan. Dr. Ryan Manuel D. Guido, as a representative for the Research and Extension division; Asst. Prof. Arcely L. Hariramani, as Library representative; and Asst. Prof. Iris Cristelle D. Destura, as Counselling and Assessment Services Unit representative, were also present to offer their valuable assistance during the evaluation and the inspection.
The MAP Program was thoroughly scrutinized by the RQAT, giving the chance for CAS to substantiate the compliance of the program with the minimum requirements set by the CHED Memorandum Orders related to the program. This evaluation reflects RTU’s eagerness in maintaining the quality of the education the university offers, especially in the graduate level programs.
Following the evaluation was an inspection of the facilities and instruments being used by the program such as the psychological tests and books acquired by the university, as well as the Psychology laboratories. The visit concluded with a post conference to further discuss improvements of the program.
This meeting reflects RTU’s indefatigable pursuit of quality education and its uncompromising commitment to keeping up with the standards set by CHED in relation to providing high quality programs to Rizalianos.
