Students of Rizal Technological University (RTU) receive career readiness insights from professionals from various industries in a two-day Marketing Me Live seminar conducted by the University Cooperative Education Office (CoEO) headed by its Director, Engr. Armando P. Matias, and Jobs180.com. Held on April 28 and 29, 2025, the webinar equipped Rizalianos with the essential tools that will aid them in navigating their career building.

Jobs180 is an IT company that specializes in providing career services aimed at enhancing the quality of job applicants and improving job matching through technology, such as real-time updated resume repositories (source: LinkedIn). It has been a trusted partner of RTU for many years, even before the pandemic.

The Day 1 session began with Mr. Kim Chua of Jobs180.com, who introduced ResumeLink, a digital tool designed to help students build online resumes and streamline job applications. He discussed the key advantages and benefits of using the tool, which will elevate fresh graduates’ professional profile as they enter today’s competitive job market.

Following that, Ms. Chona Sonio from TTEC  delivered a timely discussion on the pros and cons of hybrid work models, equipping the students with the mindset and strategies needed to thrive in flexible work environments. She also discussed the importance of understanding various work arrangements – on-site, remote, and hybrid – and how students can position themselves for success in each. Her talk also touched on industry trends and job opportunities aligned with different work setups.

Closing the first-day session was Ms. Ma. Clariselle Alon from Shearwater Health who discussed the importance of financial literacy. It focused on understanding credits and loans and budgeting strategies that will be useful for Rizalianos in managing their finances responsibly.

On the second day of the event, Ms. Maria Danica Joy L. Ortiz from Orix Metro addressed the issues of unconscious biases in the workplace, their harmful effects in a workplace setting, and the importance of awareness about these biases.

Accenture’s Mr. Reymart Kyle Dabbay discussed how emerging technologies are reshaping industries and redefining the skills needed for future careers. He explained that the digital age has ushered improved access to tools and services that enhance efficiency and productivity. Mr. Dabbay emphasized how digital transformation enables companies to innovate and remain competitive in a rapidly evolving market, noting its potential to streamline operations. However, he cautioned against overreliance on AI, underscoring the importance of using it wisely.

In her talk focused on the future of work, Ms. Potch Tort from ADP addressed the responsible use of artificial intelligence and the essential skills needed in an AI-driven world. She discussed the evolving role of AI in today’s society, highlighting how their organization integrates AI to streamline payroll processes without eliminating the human touch, emphasizing that technology should assist – not replace – people. She stressed the importance of responsible AI usage and went on to outline critical skills necessary for adapting to an AI-enhanced workplace, including the ability to future-proof one’s career.

After each session, the floor was opened to students posing questions to deepen their understanding. The speakers responded with practical advice drawn from real-life experience, making the discussions even more engaging and relatable.
