Rizal Technological University (RTU) President Dr. Ma. Eugenia M. Yangco shared valuable insights as one of the plenary speakers during the First National Engineering Education Summit (NEEdS 2024) on September 21, at the Mapua University Gymnasium, Intramuros, Manila. Dr. Yangco discussed “Enhancing Industry, Academe, and Government Collaboration through AI,” highlighting the importance of partnerships in leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) to advance engineering education and national development.
The summit, organized by the Philippine Association of Engineering Schools (PAES), aimed to address the challenges facing the Philippine engineering sector in the age of artificial intelligence. Dr. Yangco’s presentation emphasized the important role of collaboration between academia, industry, and government in driving innovation and equipping future engineers with AI-driven solutions for emerging global challenges.
The event also gathered more prominent personalities, including, CHED Commisioner, Dr. Ethel Agnes P. Valenzuela, who served as the keynote speaker; Dr. May Rose Imperial, who discussed AI-assisted quality; and Dr. Dodjie S. Maestrecampo, who shared insights on curriculum relevance and adaptability through AI. Other notable speakers included Dr. Rosula SJ Reyes, who covered professional development and lifelong learning through generative AI; and Miss Rossana T. Adao, who tackled digital transformation in education through AI.
The event put together experts and thought leaders from various fields, providing an essential platform for discussing the challenges and opportunities presented by AI in education and industry. Dr. Yangco’s talk added significant value to the conversation, highlighting the role of AI in driving collaboration and innovation in the engineering landscape.
