June 3, 2026 — Rizal Technological University (RTU), led by University President Dr. Ma. Eugenia M. Yangco, welcomed Climate Change Commission (CCC) Commissioner Albert P. Dela Cruz Sr. and his delegation for a strategic meeting aimed at exploring future partnerships and climate-responsive development initiatives that will benefit the university and the broader community.
Held at the Office of the President Conference Room, RTU Mandaluyong Campus, the meeting brought together university officials, climate advocates, and innovation stakeholders to discuss potential collaborative projects focused on sustainability, research, technology development, and infrastructure enhancement.
Joining President Yangco were Dr. Magno M. Quendangan, Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Extension Services (VPRIES); Assoc. Prof. John Eric O. Estrellado, Director of the Research Management Office (RMO); AO. Cyrus C. Tuazon, as representative of Dr. Maria Isabel L. Dizon, Director of the Administrative Services Management Office (ASMO); Dr. Rowell C. Marasigan, Director of the Financial Services Management Office (FSMO); Engr. Niño Augusto S. Curpos, Director of the Project Management Services Office (PMSO); and Former DOST Secretary Fortunato T. Dela Peña, University Researcher.
Commissioner Dela Cruz was accompanied by members of the CCC team, as well as representatives from the innovation and inventor community, including Mr. Rigel Gomez of BauerTek Pharmaceutical Technologies, and Mr. Ronald Pagsanghan and Mr. Jefferson Chong of the Filipino Inventors Society (FIS).
The discussions centered on prospective projects and partnership opportunities between RTU and the Climate Change Commission, particularly those that would advance sustainability, innovation, and technology-driven solutions to environmental challenges. Among the key topics explored were future infrastructure projects envisioned to serve as hubs for learning, research, innovation, and technology development.
These proposed initiatives aim to create significant value for RTU students, faculty members, researchers, scientists, inventors, and surrounding communities by providing access to facilities, programs, and collaborative opportunities that promote climate resilience and sustainable development.
The meeting also highlighted the vital role of higher education institutions in generating innovative solutions to climate-related concerns. Through strengthened partnerships with government agencies, industry experts, and inventor organizations, RTU seeks to expand opportunities for research commercialization, technology incubation, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
President Yangco emphasized the university’s commitment to supporting initiatives that contribute to national development goals while fostering a culture of innovation and environmental responsibility. The engagement reflects RTU’s continuing efforts to position itself as a key academic partner in advancing climate action, sustainable technologies, and research-based solutions for the benefit of society.
As discussions move forward, both RTU and the Climate Change Commission expressed optimism about developing collaborative programs that will strengthen innovation ecosystems, support emerging technologies, and create meaningful impacts for future generations.
