Rizal Technological University formally commenced its three-day online accreditation survey visit under the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) on May 5, 2026, reaffirming the University’s steadfast commitment to academic excellence, institutional accountability, and continuous quality improvement.
Led by the University’s Quality Assurance Office under the direction of OIC-Director Dr. Jack Robert B. Sablan, the accreditation exercise covers four academic programs: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering, Master of Science in Information Technology, and Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship. Conducted virtually via Zoom, the survey visit gathers some of the country’s most respected academic evaluators and quality assurance experts from various state universities and colleges nationwide.
The accreditation formally opened through a program featuring messages from Vice President for Planning, Quality Assurance, and Strategic Initiatives Dr. Salvacion J. Pachejo and Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs Dr. Kristine Y. Opulencia, both of whom emphasized the vital role of accreditation in strengthening institutional standards, ensuring program relevance, and advancing student-centered education.
Heading the delegation as Overall Coordinator is Dr. Manuel A. Sanchez Jr. of Iloilo Science and Technology University, one of the most distinguished figures in Philippine higher education quality assurance. A recipient of the prestigious Manuel T. Corpus Outstanding Accreditor Award, Dr. Sanchez brings decades of leadership experience in academic administration, research, and quality management. His participation underscores the credibility and rigor of the evaluation process and reflects the high standards expected in AACCUP accreditation.
The delegation is composed of nine veteran accreditors from leading state universities and colleges, including Cebu Technological University, University of Northern Philippines, Marinduque State University, Camarines Norte State College, and Romblon State University. Collectively, they bring decades of expertise in engineering, technology, entrepreneurship, graduate education, governance, research, and institutional quality assurance.
Beyond evaluating documentary evidence and compliance with accreditation standards, the accreditors play a critical role in guiding institutions toward higher levels of academic
performance and operational excellence. Their recommendations help strengthen curriculum delivery, research productivity, extension initiatives, faculty qualifications, student services, and institutional systems. Through this collaborative process, accreditation becomes not merely an assessment mechanism, but a transformative instrument for institutional growth and innovation.
For RTU, the accreditation survey visit represents a significant milestone in its continuing pursuit of educational quality and global competitiveness. Accreditation serves as a powerful assurance to students, parents, industry partners, and stakeholders that the University’s academic programs meet recognized standards of excellence. It also reinforces the institution’s credibility, supports faculty and student development opportunities, and enhances the University’s standing within the Philippine higher education landscape.
As the University undergoes this rigorous evaluation, RTU remains guided by its enduring commitment to excellence and service. More than a compliance exercise, the accreditation visit reflects the University’s vision of cultivating programs that are responsive, future-ready, and anchored in the highest standards of academic integrity — truly remaining Forever True to the Gold and Blue.
