On November 30, 2025, the Electrical Engineering (EE) Department of Rizal Technological University (RTU) conducted a community extension activity at the Acacia Covered Court, Burol III, Dasmariñas, Cavite, delivering tested knowledge on Electrical Safety in building homes to the area’s residents.
The session was led by Engr. Jaymer Punzalan, who presented a lecture on Basic Electrical Safety at Home. The discussion emphasized the structure of the household electrical system, electrical fundamentals and terminology, the causes and effects of electric shock, and essential safety practices to prevent electrical hazards. The session also addressed identifying electrical risks and appropriate first aid responses for electric shock incidents.
A question-and-answer segment encouraged active engagement, enabling participants to clarify concerns and gain practical insight.
A hands-on demonstration of real-world applications related to residential electrical safety and basic troubleshooting by the RTU EE Faculty followed, offering the participants an opportunity to put into practice the knowledge gained in the earlier session.
The League of Electrical Engineering and Transformative Students (LEETS) proudly served as volunteers, providing assistance throughout the program and helping ensure a smooth, organized, and impactful activity for the community, together with the ADHHOPE Home Owners Association Inc. and the RTU Extension and Community Services Office.
The activity successfully delivered practical knowledge on electrical safety, heightened community awareness, and strengthened responsible home electrical practices through collective effort and collaboration.
The extension program is part of RTU’s ongoing efforts in extending the use of its knowledge in meaningful community development initiatives. With the cooperation of faculty members, students, and administrative personnel, RTU’s extension activities continue to uplift communities.
