RTU ECSO, Philippine Red Cross-Rizal Prepares for Institutional Blood Donation Drive

Rizal Technological University (RTU) conducted the “Huntahang Pangkomunidad for External Partners: Coordination Meeting” and met with the Philippine Red Cross-Rizal Chapter representatives on September 17, 2025 (Wednesday), at the Intellectual Property Management Office (IPMO), R&D Building. A key focus of the meeting was RTU’s upcoming university-wide blood donation drive.

The discussion centered on the university’s coordination with the Philippine Red Cross-Rizal Blood Center to ensure the success of the initiative. RTU expressed its full support for the program, recognizing its significance in promoting public health and humanitarian service. The university emphasized the importance of strategic planning, effective collaboration, and resource mobilization to achieve the campaign’s objectives.

The Philippine Red Cross was represented by Donor Recruitment Officer Mr. Arjeannel A. Armas; Chapter Service Representative for Red Cross Youth, Volunteer Service, and International Humanitarian Law, Ms. Sarah Mae Masinsin; and Chapter Service Representative for Safety Services and Disaster Management Services, Ms. Althea Marie A. Espino. Their participation highlighted PRC’s dedication to youth engagement, volunteerism, and community-based health and safety programs.

RTU representatives included ECSO Director Instr. Ricardo H. Momongan Jr.; ECSO Deputy Director Instr. Abigail P. Mendoza; Head of Extension and Community Linkages Unit, Dr. Robelyn B. Bautista; University Nurse Mr. Tommy Ryan A. Morales; NSTP Office Director Dr. Elmer C. Pascual; NSTP-CWTS Unit Head Assoc. Prof. Joven F. Andrada; RTU-FFUAI President Dr. Hiene Roy C. Barcelona; RTU-ASAP President Mr. Arnel G. Jaming; and SCC Representative Mr. Mark Ferdinand M. Gallarte.

Discussions covered key logistical elements of the blood donation program, including participant registration, scheduling, and support services. RTU reaffirmed its readiness to mobilize resources and engage its student body, particularly NSTP students, to help meet donation targets. The Philippine Red Cross will provide technical support, training services, and incentives for donors, including blood vouchers and educational demonstrations.

The coordination meeting marked a significant step in RTU’s efforts to promote health awareness and community involvement. With both institutions aligned in purpose, the upcoming blood donation campaign is expected to deliver a meaningful impact across the university and its surrounding communities. The activity was also a strategic platform to strengthen institutional partnerships and reinforce RTU’s commitment to community engagement through collaborative initiatives with external stakeholders.
