Women’s Wellness at Work: HRMO and GSDO Enrich Women Empowerment in the Workplace

Rizal Technological University (RTU) further celebrates Women’s Month on March 28, 2025 at RTU Mandaluyong Main Campus with Women’s Wellness at Work: Her Health, Rights, and Empowerment program. 

Inviting participants from across the RTU community, including faculty members, employees, and students, the Gender Studies and Development Office (GSDO), Human Resourse Management Office (HRMO) Employee Relations and Engagement Unit (EREU), and PRIME HRM Learning and Development Section (LDS) furthered the campaign for gender equality inside the university. One with the National Women’s Month theme,  “Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas”, the program discussed relevant topics such as women’s health and rights.

In her opening remarks, Instr. Shereen B. Cadileña, Director of GSDO, highlighted the experiences of women in the workplace, where they can thrive, but also face challenges that hinders women empowerment.

The program enlisted women experts including Dr. Emily C. Miguel, the Head of RTU Health Services Unit (HSU), who highlighted information on Cervical Cancer that haunts women specifically, as well as reproductive health; Atty. Joliv C. Ong, Deputy Legal Counsel from the Office of Legal Affairs (OLA), who meaningfully discussed R.A.11313 or the Safe Spaces Act, also known as Bawal Bastos Law; and Atty. Roxanne Lee I. Castro, Director of OLA, who masterfully discussed R.A.7877 or the Anti-Sexual Harassment Act of 1995 and R.A. 9710 or the Magna Carta of Women. These experts also answered sexual harassment-related questions during the Open Forum.

The Director of HRMO, Asst. Prof. Dynehgre C. Villavicencio, concluded the program with her closing remarks, expressing her appreciation for the male participation in the event; emphasizing that the endeavor towards women empowerment welcomes the active participation and support of men.

RTU continues to strive for an environment that is conducive to all genders. As an educational institution, Pandayang Rizalia values women as part of its community and workplace, even more so their role in the society. Initiatives like this program is just one of the many efforts of Pandayang Rizalia in empowering women of the society.
