RTU Visits Cebu Technological University for Extension and Community Services Benchmarking

 

On July 30, 2024, the RTU Extension and Community Services Office (ECSO) conducted a benchmarking visit at Cebu Technological University (CTU) Main Campus to enhance ECSO’s performance by examining CTU’s extension best practices.


The benchmarking team was led by Instr. Ricardo H. Momongan, Jr., Director of the Extension and Community Services Office, accompanied by ECSO staff and coordinators, including Instr. Abigail P. Mendoza, ECSO Staff for Extension Training and Community Linkages/CBEA Extension Coordinator; Instr. John Paul G. Sison, ECSO Staff for Extension Training and Community Program Development/CBEA Extension Coordinator; Instr. Angeline V. Villareal, CED Extension Coordinator; Assoc. Prof. Edwin M. Purisima, CEng Extension Coordinator; and Instr. Rhoda M. Malabanan, IHK Extension Coordinator. Joining them were Instr. Vanessa M. Aurelio, Supervising Administrative Officer for Finance (SAOF); and Instr. Mark Anthony L. Gallego, Staff, Accounting Office from the Financial Management Services Office.

 


The activity began with a courtesy call at the President’s Office and a welcome from Dr. Rosein A. Ancheta, Jr., Vice President for Production, Extension, and Resource Generation (VP-PERG). Dr. Maria Elena A. Aparante, Extension Chairperson, Main-CoEng, acknowledged the attendees.


CTU representatives included Dr. Ancheta; Dr. Simeon C. Bernados Jr., Extension Chairperson, Main-CAS; Dr. Maria Esther F. Medalla, Extension Chairperson, Main-COT; Dr. Jabin J. Deguma, Extension Chairperson, Main-CoEd; Dr. Christina Y. Pacubas, Extension Chairperson, Main-CME; Dr. Ricson M. Bondad, Extension Chairperson, Main-CCICT; Asst. Prof. Anne S. Lorca, Extension Proponent, AR-Labogon; and Dr. Karl Vincent L. Lubigan, Dean of the College of Technology.


Instr. Momongan introduced the RTU team, paving the way for a productive exchange. A highlight was CTU’s presentation of their flagship extension program, “Hinablon sa Cebu” (Hablon). The event also featured an open forum for discussion.


The activity focused on sharing best practices in extension programs, covering planning, implementation, evaluation, and budget utilization. Both institutions gained valuable insights to enhance their community service initiatives.
