Rizal Technological University (RTU) has successfully concluded the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) Accreditation Survey Visit, held from February 17 to 21, 2025. The accreditation covered five academic programs: Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Master of Arts in Mathematics Education, Doctor in Business Administration, and Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Major in Financial Management.
The accreditation survey visit commenced on February 17, 2025, with an opening program featuring welcoming remarks from Dr. Salvacion J. Pachejo, Vice President for Planning, Quality Assurance, and Strategic Initiatives, and Dr. Kristine Y. Opulencia, Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs. RTU President, Dr. Ma. Eugenia M. Yangco, delivered an inspirational message, emphasizing the university’s unwavering commitment to quality education, academic excellence, and continuous institutional improvement. The university’s Quality Policy, Philosophy, Mission, and Vision were presented through an engaging audio-visual presentation.
During the program, the AACCUP accreditors and RTU’s local accreditation task force were introduced, followed by an overview of the accreditation process. Dr. Elsie M. Pacho and Dr. Nestor C. Sedanza, as overall coordinators, provided statements of purpose and guidance on the accreditation procedures. An orientation briefing through an audio-visual presentation familiarized participants with the documentation process. The opening program concluded with a breakout session, enabling accreditors to engage with RTU representatives for preliminary discussions.
Throughout the week, RTU underwent a rigorous assessment, wherein accreditors meticulously examined documents, interviewed faculty and students, evaluated facilities, and reviewed instructional materials. The assessment included curriculum evaluation, faculty qualifications, research outputs, extension programs, student services, and overall institutional governance. The accreditors also conducted virtual inspections, ensuring adherence to AACCUP standards. Faculty members and administrators actively participated in discussions and presentations to showcase RTU’s strengths and areas for further development.
The closing program on February 21, 2025, featured reaffirmations of commitment from key university leaders. Dr. Corleto R. Bravo, Dean of the College of Engineering (CEng); Dr. Wendelyn A. Samarita, Dean of the College of Education (CEd); and Dr. Kathryn N. Tria, Dean of the College of Business, Entrepreneurship, and Accountancy (CBEA) expressed their dedication to upholding academic excellence and continuous institutional growth. Certificates of recognition were awarded to individuals who played key roles in the accreditation process.
Admin. Officer Ma. Lourdes R. Austria, Director of the Quality Assurance Office (QAO), delivered the closing remarks, highlighting the collective efforts that led to the successful accreditation survey visit. The event concluded with a message of gratitude and appreciation for all stakeholders who contributed to the accreditation process, reinforcing RTU’s commitment to quality education and excellence.
