RTU Strengthens Community Engagement Through New Partnership with PLP and  Two Faith-based Organizations

On November 6, 2024, the Rizal Technological University (RTU) entered into a significant collaboration to elevate community engagement and development initiatives, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig (PLP), the Live Christ Share Christ Foundation, Inc. (LCSC), and Missionary Families of Christ Foundation, Inc. (MFC). The MOU signing ceremony, held at the RTU Office of the President, brought together leaders from academia and faith-based organizations to commit to a shared vision for sustainable community development.

The event opened with welcoming remarks from Dr. Ma. Eugenia M. Yangco, President of RTU, who underscored the university’s commitment to fostering positive societal impact through active community engagement. Dr. Yangco highlighted that this partnership will provide RTU students and faculty with expanded opportunities to participate in outreach and service initiatives. Following Dr. Yangco, Instr. Ricardo H. Momongan, Jr., Director of RTU’s Extension and Community Services Office (ECSO), elaborated on the partnership’s goals, emphasizing the focus on livelihood support, civic responsibility, and sustainable local development.

The signing of the MOU signifies a comprehensive approach to community support, resource sharing, and capacity building. Representatives from RTU, including Dr. Yangco, Instr. Momongan, and Dr. Ryan Manuel D. Guido, Director of RTU’s Research Development and Innovation Office, signed the MOU alongside PLP officials, including Dr. Glicerio M. Maningas, President of PLP; Michael Medina, Executive Assistant; Maria Lilibeth Olivar, Community Affairs and Linkages Officer; Arlene Daniel, Student Success Director; and Rommel Aballe, Faculty of the College of Education.

RTU also formalized its partnership with LCSC and MFC, represented by key leaders, including Mr. Dylan P. Reyes, LCSC Moderator; Mr. Jose Ibarra “Jo-I” Villas, National Coordinator of the Live the Faith Pillar; Mr. Jessie James “Jay Jay” F. Tropicales, National Coordinator of the Live Full Pillar; Ms. Myra Menguito, LCSC Administrator; and Mr. Angelito L. Lorena, Jr., Country Servant of MFC, and Francisco Xavier Xajicto S. Padilla, Home Office Director of MFC.

In a joint message of commitment, representatives from all participating institutions expressed their enthusiasm for the partnership’s potential to drive meaningful change in local communities. Dr. Maningas of PLP, Mr. Reyes of LCSC, and Mr. Lorena of MFC, along with Instr. Momongan and Dr. Guido of RTU shared a unified vision of creating a supportive framework for local communities that emphasizes empowerment and sustainable development.

This partnership marks a pivotal step for RTU, PLP, LCSC, and MFC in aligning their resources, expertise, and networks to uplift communities through strategic programs. By providing RTU students with hands-on experience in community work, this collaboration is expected to instill a deeper sense of social responsibility, enhance local resources, and facilitate knowledge-sharing across institutions. The event concluded with a group photo, symbolizing the launch of this ambitious partnership focused on transformative community development.
