RTU-RMO Moves toward Records Administration Enhancement through Benchmarking Activity with UPLB-RMO

Aiming to enhance RTU’s records management systems by learning from UPLB’s best practices and innovations, the Records Management Office (RMO) of Rizal Technological University (RTU) conducted a benchmarking visit to the Records Management Office of the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB-RMO) on May 09, 2025.

Recognizing UPLB-RMO as a pioneer in records administration, RTU-RMO sought to gain valuable insights into five key areas: records classification and retention policies, digitalization and electronic records management, records disposal and compliance, disaster preparedness and records preservation, and automation and the use of records management systems.

The RTU-RMO team, composed of OIC-Director AO Michael B. Yap, Deputy Director Mr. Paolo M. Gaspar, Data Control Officer Instr. Joy Lyn G. Ropero, and Mr. Alexander Bornales, Head of the Physical Records and Dissemination Unit, actively participated in the exchange.

The benchmarking activity was part of RTU’s ongoing efforts to improve efficiency, compliance, and secure the preservation of institutional records. Through this collaborative exchange, RTU hopes to adopt more effective strategies and systems that will ultimately enhance its records administration practices.

The visit marked a significant step in professional development and inter-institutional cooperation, reinforcing the shared commitment to excellence in public service and records management among the two offices.
