


Rizal Technological University (RTU) participated in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Ranking Online Masterclass Philippines 2024, held on October 21, 2024, via Zoom conferencing platform. The event, organized by THE in collaboration with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), aimed to provide universities with a deeper understanding of the THE Impact Rankings and their role in supporting the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This prestigious masterclass attracted participation from various institutions across the country, all focused on enhancing their contributions to global sustainability efforts.
The masterclass featured key speakers such as Ms. Hannah Peacock, Head of SDG and Teaching Rankings at THE, Mr. Ritin Malhotra, General Manager and Regional Director (Asia) of THE, and Atty. Lily Freida Milla, Director of International Affairs at CHED. Representing RTU at the masterclass were Mr. Donato Z. Estocada, Director of the International Affairs and Linkages Office (IALO), Ms. Mary Joy C. Medrano, of IALO, and Asst. Prof. John Eric O. Estrellado, Director of the University Public Affairs Office (UPAO).
The session covered key topics such as the introduction and methodology of the THE Impact Rankings, insights into the performance of Philippine universities in the 2024 rankings, and a detailed guide on how institutions can participate and register for future rankings. The event concluded with a Q&A session, offering participants an opportunity to clarify their queries and explore ways to improve their institutions’ standing on a global scale.
By participating in this masterclass, RTU confirmed its dedication to sustainable development and its mission to integrate global best practices into its educational framework. The university continues to enhance its role in promoting the SDGs, making significant progress toward achieving excellence and contributing to the global academic community.
