Rizal Technological University (RTU) actively participated in the Training on Packaging Technology Transfer Modality-Based Programs/Projects held from May 4–8, 2026 at the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU) International Convention Center in Bacnotan, La Union.
Representing the University were Asst. Prof. Ricardo H. Momongan, Jr., Director of the Extension and Community Services Office, and Asst. Prof. John Oliver P. Distor, Head of the Intellectual Property Management Center. The five-day capability-building program was spearheaded by the Department of Science and Technology–Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (DOST-PCAARRD) through its Technology Transfer and Promotion Division (TTPD).
The training gathered extension and technology transfer practitioners from various higher education institutions and organizations nationwide to strengthen competencies in developing, packaging, and evaluating technology transfer modality-based programs and projects.
Throughout the activity, participants underwent intensive workshops and discussions on project conceptualization, results framework development, monitoring and evaluation, sustainability planning, economic evaluation, cost-benefit analysis, risk analysis, and proposal enhancement. Resource speakers from DOST-PCAARRD and partner institutions guided the participants in crafting responsive and sustainable extension and technology transfer initiatives.
As part of the workshop outputs, RTU successfully developed and packaged a project proposal that will be submitted for evaluation by DOST-PCAARRD for possible funding support. The proposal aims to further strengthen the University’s commitment to innovation, technology transfer, extension services, and community empowerment.
RTU’s participation in the training reflects its continued dedication to advancing research utilization, intellectual property management, and sustainable community-based development initiatives aligned with national development goals.
