RTU GSDO Conducts Seminar to Raise Awareness on Women’s Health and Breast Cancer Prevention

Rizal Technological University’s Gender Studies and Development Office (GSDO) took a proactive step through an awareness seminar on ‘Women’s Health and Breast Cancer Prevention’ as part of the celebration for the International Women’s Month. Held at the 10th Floor of SNAGAH Building RTU Main Campus, on March 14, 2024.

The seminar, themed “Empowerher: Health is Wealth- A Holistic Training Program for Women: Promoting Overall Wellness and Breast Cancer Awareness and Prevention in the Philippines”, commenced with an opening speech by the Director of GSDO, Instr. Shereen Yanna Cadilena. In her address, Cadilena underscored the significance of understanding the intersectionality of gender, health, and wealth in shaping women’s lives. She emphasized the crucial role of maintaining good health in achieving happiness and success.

Dr. Alfred N. Potenciano, University Physician and the head of the RTU Health Services Unit (HSU), served as the resource speaker at the event. Dr. Potenciano delivered a discussion of essential knowledge for breast cancer awareness and prevention. His presentation delved into the importance of early detection, healthy lifestyle choices, and regular screenings in reducing the risk of breast cancer among women.

The seminar provided attendees with valuable information and practical tips to prioritize their health and well-being. Through interactive discussions and informative sessions, participants gained an understanding of the importance of proactive measures in maintaining good health, particularly in the context of breast cancer prevention.

As the month-long celebration of International Women’s Month continues, RTU initiatives like these underscore the collective commitment towards advancing the rights and well-being of women.
