RTU Executives Join PASUC General Assembly: Paving the Path for Advancing SUCs Competitiveness

The executives of Rizal Technological University (RTU) have actively participated in the 2024 Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC) Annual Convention and General Assembly. The event, themed “Advancing Competitiveness of SUCs for National Development,” took place from July 15-17, 2024, at the SMX Convention Center Manila, Pasay City.

This prestigious assembly brought together key leaders and stakeholders from State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) across the Philippines to discuss and strategize on enhancing the quality and sustainability of higher education. The convention’s comprehensive program was designed to address various aspects of higher education through insightful sessions, panel discussions, and keynote speeches.

The RTU delegation was led by Dr. Ma. Eugenia M. Yangco, University President. She was accompanied by Dr. Rodolfo L. Ducut, VP for Finance and Administration; Dr. Kristine Y. Opulencia, VP for Academic and Student Affairs; Dr. Magno M. Quendangan, VP for Research, Innovation, and Extension Services; Dr. Salvacion J. Pachejo, VP for Planning, Quality Assurance, and Strategic Initiatives; and Dr. Corazon D. Austria, Pasig Branch Chancellor. Other key administrators from RTU included Instr. Donato Z. Estocada, Director of the International Affairs and Linkages Office (IALO); Dr. Jaevier A. Villanueva, Director of the Management Information System Office (MISO); Dr. Maria Isabel DL. Dizon, Director of the Administrative Services Office (ASO); and Inst. Vanessa M. Aurelio of the Financial Management Services Office (FMSO).

The convention featured a range of distinguished speakers, including Hon. Alan Peter S. Cayetano, Dr. Karol Mark R. Yee, Atty. Lily Frieda M. Milla, Dr. Ma. Cynthia Rose B. Bautista, Dr. Raul F. Muyong, Dr. Willie T. Ong, Mr. Antonio “Tony” Meloto, Mr. Fook Yen Chong, Mr. Monchito B. Ibrahim, Engr. Albertson D. Amante, Mr. Paolo Salinas, and Mr. Morning Xu. These sessions addressed key topics such as the issues and challenges of free higher education, positioning Philippine SUCs in a global context, ensuring quality assurance, health and wellness, research and innovation ecosystems, and the engineering of smart campuses for sustainable development.
