RTU Commits to Advancing Sustainable Development Goals in Support of CHED-NCR Initiatives

Through the representation of Instr. Donato Z. Estocada, Director of the International Affairs and Linkages Office (IALO), and Asst. Prof. John Eric O. Estrellado, Director of the Research Development and Innovation Office (RDIO), Rizal Technological University (RTU) reaffirmed its commitment in advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as part of its participation in the NCR aRANKada FLAIR 2025, a key capacity-building initiative led by the Commission on Higher Education – National Capital Region (CHED-NCR).

During the event held from August 27 to 28, 2025, at Far Eastern University in Sampaloc, Manila, RTU underscored its dedication to integrating sustainable development principles within its academic, research, and community engagement programs. This pledge aligns with CHED-NCR’s vision of fostering higher education institutions that contribute meaningfully to the global development agenda.

CHED-NCR Chairperson Dr. Jimmy G. Catanes emphasized that advancing SDG goals is an integral component of the ACHIEVE Agenda of CHED Chairperson Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis and the NCR aRANKada FLAIR program. He encouraged all participating institutions, including RTU, to continue their efforts in embedding sustainable development in their policies and programs.

RTU’s pledge to advance the SDGs demonstrates its holistic approach to education—one that nurtures global citizenship, environmental stewardship, and inclusive growth. As the university moves forward, it remains committed to being a proactive partner in achieving sustainable progress both locally and internationally.
