



Rizal Technological University (RTU) and the Philippine Army convened for a virtual meeting on October 16, 2024 to discuss joint research projects. The online meeting brought together key representatives from both institutions, aiming to strengthen research ties and explore future initiatives that would benefit both the academic and military sectors.
The meeting was formally opened by Dr. Magno M. Quendangan, RTU Vice President for the Research, Innovation, and Extension Office (VPRIES), who welcomed the attendees and stressed the importance of the university’s role in advancing research that aligns with national interests. This was followed by a presentation from Instr. Cheryl Lyn C. Ayuste, Associate Director of RDIO, who provided an overview of RTU’s research capabilities.
The Philippine Army’s research team was then introduced, represented by its research members. They expressed eagerness for this partnership, emphasizing how joint efforts could lead to advancements that benefit not only the military but also the broader academic and research community.
Following the introductions was Instr. Willie Anthony Sapalaran who presented the university’s research thrusts. The discussion then shifted to the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) research thrusts, where a representative from the Philippine Army research team detailed their focus areas and research priorities. The exchange of ideas between the two institutions sparked discussions on the potential synergies in their research goals.
Dr. Ryan Manuel D. Guido, Director of Research, Development, and Innovation Office (RDIO) at RTU, took the lead in discussing the formal aspects of the collaboration, outlining the steps necessary to solidify the research agreements between the two entities.
The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both RTU and the Philippine Army expressing their commitment to the partnership. The discussions also highlighted the potential for future academic engagements, with both parties looking forward to deepening their cooperation.
