March 3, 2025, The Rizal Technological University (RTU) community came together to begin the celebration of Women’s Month held during the monthly flag-raising ceremony at RTU Mandaluyong Main Campus, Quadrangle Area.
The ceremony, which had a theme: Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas, emphasized women’s empowerment through lively dance, music, and motivational performances. The program also emphasized women’s crucial role in creating a better world.
Ar. Marierose V. Vocal, Director of the Institute of Architecture, deliver a gracious note on the importance of Women’s History Month, followed by the University President. Dr. Ma. Eugenia M. Yangco’s speech about the important connection between empowering women and creating a better world and how empowering women can uplift better societies Additionally, she acknowledged and congratulated Himig Rizalia for their stellar performance, which included winning triple gold in three different categories: Folklore, Musica Sacra, and Mixed Open, at the Petra Cantare International Choral Festival at Surabaya, Indonesia.
The RTU Dance Troupe and RTU Himig Rizalia then gave the audience an enthralling performance. The significance of gender equality and empowerment was emphasized by Instr. Shereen Cadileña, Director of Gender Studies and Development. She requested everyone to support the celebration’s cause by wearing purple shirts on Wednesdays of the month. In addition, a stirring message on the signs and prevention of cervical cancer was delivered by Dr. Emely Concepcion C. Miguel. She also offered her thoughts on the critical role that women play as life bearers. The celebration ended with Ar. King Frederick J. Sol’s closing remarks, followed by a rousing performance of the RTU Hymn.
