EDUC CANADA: RTU Opens Up Doors for Educational Partnership and Opportunities in Canada

The International Affairs and Linkages Office (IALO) of Rizal Technological University (RTU) goes beyond the reach of Asia in terms of global education and now aims for opportunities in Canada.

On February 11, 2025, RTU IALO conducted “Educ Canada Orientation” at the university’s SNAGAH Penthouse, opening the doors for opportunities for Rizalianos to study at Algonquin College, a Canadian institution located in Ottawa, Ontario.

In his opening speech, Instr. Donato Z. Estocada, Director of IALO, emphasized the prestige that comes with having an education that was provided by international institutions. He also strongly called for Rizalianos to try their luck in such opportunities, emphasizing that IALO will always provide the opportunities and necessary assistance for such endeavors.

Algonquin College was represented by Ms. Catly Lee, Senior Regional Manager, and Ms. Aira Galla, Country Manager, who gave a presentation on what their institution could offer to interested individuals  and other information regarding Algonquin College experience. One of the highlights of the presentation was the four-week summer camp being offered to students, which can be tailored to align to the program the students are enrolled in.

After the orientation, IALO and the visitors met with the deans and heads of the different colleges and institutes, where they discussed the offers and other areas and possibilities of collaboration in line with the partnership. Present in the meeting were Dr. Kristine Y. Opulencia, Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs (VPASA);  Dr. Wendelyn Samarita, Dean of the College of Education (CEd); Dr. Kathryn D. Tria, Dean of the College of Business, Entrepreneurship, and Accountancy (CBEA); Dr. Corleto Bravo, Dean of the College of Engineering (CEng); Dr. Mark Joseph Santos, Director of the Institute of Human Kinetics (IHK); Dr. Lea S. Nisperos, Director of the Institute of Computer Studies (ICS); AR. Marirose Vocal, Director of the Institute of Architecture (IA) and Instr. Kriznald Azucena, representing the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS). The visit concluded with the representatives of Algonquin College paying a courtesy call to Dr. Ma. Eugenia M. Yangco, RTU President.

The university’s efforts in fostering partnerships towards internationalization and providing opportunities for the community always keep true to RTU’s commitment in providing quality education and furthering the university’s international presence.
