CHED Regional Quality Assurance Team visits RTU-CEA for COPC Validation

February 28, 2024 – The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Regional Quality Assurance Team (RQAT) visited RTU-College of Engineering and Architecture (CEA) for a survey visit to evaluate its Computer Engineering and BS Industrial Engineering programs and validate the university’s adherence to the requirements for the Certificate of Program Compliance.

The RQAT visiting entourage, headed by Dr. Renato Villegas from CHED-NCR, together with representatives from CHED-Central, Ms. Clarrize Angelu Aquino; Head of the technical panel for Computer Engineering, Maria Cecilia Venal; and CHED representative for Industrial Engineering, Dr. Romalyn Galingan, was warmly welcomed by the CEA faculty members led by Engr. Christopher Zaplan and Dr. Helen Mendoza, Heads of the Computer Engineering and Industrial Engineering departments, respectively.

Following the usual warm-up and welcome pleasantries, the team commenced the examination of the departments’ compliance requirements based on the recommendations derived from the initial survey visit of each degree program.   Aside from the curriculum, the team assessed other aspects of the programs such as the administration, faculty, library, laboratory and equipment, instructional facilities, and student support. Central to this survey is the assessment and inspection of the library and laboratory implements on which the efficiency and effectiveness in the delivery of instruction are anchored.

The RTU Quality Assurance Office, headed by Dr. Edna P. Conwi plays an integral part in maintaining the university’s standards and consistency in monitoring and implementing protocols to ensure that program offerings and other university processes meet regulatory compliance and stakeholders’ expectations.
