Beyond Numbers: PICPA’s 78th Annual National Convention in Sorsogon

The 78th Annual National Convention (ANC) of the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA), led by its National President Randy Blanza, took place in Sorsogon City, Bicol, last November 22–25, with seven faculty members and finance administrators from Rizal Technological University attending the event, namely: Dr. Velissa Rubaya, Dir. Rowell C. Marasigan, Chief Accountant Jeremy Sevido, Officer Ma. Lourdes Austria, Asso. Prof. Felecitaz Tuazon, Instr. Rholand Tapalla, and Inst. Nestor Espenociall—all are CPAs.

The conference furthered the professional growth of Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) nationwide by addressing pertinent and worthwhile subjects in various plenaries, breakout sessions, and sector-specific technical talks. The sectors include the government, education, public practice, commerce, and industry.

Vice President Sara Zimmerman Duterte, Senator Francis “Chiz” G. Escudero, and Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Tesoro Go graced the event with their presence. Also present is Hon. Noe G. Quinanola, Chairman of the Professional Regulatory Board of Accountancy.

This year’s theme is “Beyond Numbers,” prompting that the accounting profession encompasses more than just working with numbers and resolving financial and nonfinancial problems.
