“Padayon sa Literasiya!” says the faculty and student extensionists from the College of Education (CEd) Filipino Department and College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) of Rizal Technological University (RTU) as they reaffirm their commitment to advancing literacy through the conduct of the Readers to Leaders Extension Program, in partnership with Hulo Integrated School (HIS), on October 21, 2026.
Now in its third year of implementation, Readers to Leaders continues to complement the school’s Panday-Basa initiative, strengthening collaborative efforts to improve students’ reading proficiency and support national literacy goals.
“Padayon sa literasiya. The Filipino Department is committed to engaging its faculty and student-extensionists in meaningful community service. Here’s to a more relevant partnership for national literacy,” emphasized Instr. Aira F. Mitra, Head of the Filipino Department, highlighting the department’s dedication to supporting the literacy development of its partner school.
During the activity, Mrs. Trixie Duzon, Filipino Department Coordinator of Hulo Integrated School, presented baseline data on the reading proficiency of secondary school students. These findings will serve as a valuable reference in identifying learners’ needs, setting program priorities, and refining intervention strategies for this year’s implementation.
By adopting a data-informed approach, the partnership seeks to ensure that its literacy interventions remain responsive, relevant, and sustainable. This initiative also reflects the College and the Department’s continuing commitment to quality extension services and to addressing the educational challenges highlighted in the EDCOM II reports.
Together, RTU and Hulo Integrated School move forward in empowering learners, nurturing confident readers, and building a stronger foundation for lifelong learning.
Padayon sa pagbasa. Padayon sa pagkatuto. Padayon sa literasiya!
