RTU, Colegio de San Juan de Letran Calamba Forge Partnership to Advance Global Impact and Sustainability

In a significant step toward strengthening global academic collaboration and advancing sustainable development, Rizal Technological University (RTU) formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Colegio de San Juan de Letran Calamba on April 10, 2026, at the RTU Mandaluyong Campus.

The partnership underscores both institutions’ commitment to advancing internationalization efforts and improving their standing in global impact rankings by aligning academic initiatives with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The MOU outlines several key areas of collaboration, including student exchange programs, academic exchanges among faculty and researchers, and the co-organization of courses, seminars, and workshops. It also emphasizes joint efforts in technical research and development, entrepreneurship and innovation, and cultural exchange. Both institutions further agreed to pursue additional collaborative initiatives as mutually determined.

Leading the delegation from Colegio de San Juan de Letran Calamba was Rev. Fr. Roman L. Santos, Rector and President, accompanied by key academic officials: Dr. Floricon V. Encabo, Vice President for Academics; Dr. Richard John Brian D. Manzano, Director for Internationalization and Linkages and Principal of the Senior High School; Dr. Loriemel E. Ferrera, Dean of the School of Education, Arts, and Sciences and Technology; Ms. Cherry G. Tanodra, Dean of the School of Nursing; Dr. Francisco H. Bernal, Dean of the School of Engineering and Architecture; Dr. Julieta N. Madjus, Dean of the School of Business, Management and Accountancy; and Dr. Roberto D. V. Revilla, Dean of the Graduate School.

RTU’s delegation was headed by Assoc. Prof. Donato Z. Estocada, Director of the International Affairs and Linkages Office, alongside Dr. Magno M. Quendangan, Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Extension Services (VPRIES); Dr. Kristine Y. Opulencia, Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs (VPASA); Assoc. Prof. John Eric O. Estrellado, Director of the Research Development and Innovation Office (RDIO); Dr. Wendelyn Samarita, Dean of the College of Education; Dr. Jeremiah Pacer, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences; and other university officials.

RTU representatives emphasized that the partnership aligns with the university’s strategic direction toward inclusive, impactful global engagement. By fostering cross-institutional collaboration, RTU aims to enhance research productivity, promote innovation-driven solutions, and expand opportunities for students and faculty in the international arena.

The collaboration is expected to contribute to key performance indicators in global rankings, particularly in areas such as quality education, partnerships for the goals, and innovation ecosystems. Through joint programs and knowledge exchange, both institutions seek to create meaningful academic and societal impact, reinforcing their roles as catalysts for sustainable development.

The MOU signing marks another milestone in RTU’s continuing efforts to build strong international linkages and position itself as a globally competitive and socially responsive university.
