RTU Earns Commendation from COA For Strong Implementation of Audit Recommendations

Rizal Technological University (RTU) reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability, and sound financial governance through the successful conduct of the Commission on Audit (COA) Exit Conference for Calendar Year (CY) 2025 Audit, held on April 6, 2026 at the RTU Penthouse.

The Exit Conference was spearheaded by Atty. Bernadette D. Combate-Soliven, Supervising Auditor for the SUCs Audit Group, together with Ms. Gizel Levy E. Trinidad, RTU Audit Team Leader, and Ms. Jessiebeth De Vera, SA II, who presented the audit findings, observations, and corresponding recommendations to the University.

Present during the conference were RTU officials headed by University President Dr. Ma. Eugenia M. Yangco, along with Vice-Presidents, Chief Administrative Officers, Directors and Unit Heads, demonstrating a whole-of-university approach in addressing audit matters and strengthening institutional compliance.

A highlight of the presentation was the Status of Implementation of Prior Years’ Audit Recommendations, where RTU recorded a 72.22% implementation rate, equivalent to 13 out of 18 recommendations fully implemented.

  • For CY 2024, out of 14 audit recommendations, 11 were fully implemented, while 3 remain for compliance
  • For prior years, 2 out of 4 recommendations were fully implemented, with the remaining items still under action
  • A total of 14 recommendations were reiterated, further guiding the University in strengthening its internal systems and controls

This achievement earned RTU a commendation from the COA Audit Team, recognizing the University’s proactive efforts in addressing audit findings and institutionalizing corrective measures.

The Exit Conference served as a vital platform for constructive engagement between COA and RTU, reinforcing not only compliance with government auditing standards but also the University’s commitment to continuous improvement, operational efficiency, and responsible stewardship of public resources.

More than a compliance exercise, the activity underscores RTU’s dedication to embedding a culture of accountability across all units—ensuring that governance mechanisms are responsive, transparent, and aligned with national standards.

As RTU continues its journey toward becoming a smart and transnational university, it remains steadfast in upholding excellence in governance—where every recommendation becomes an opportunity for growth and every action reflects integrity in public service.
