Extensionists from RTU-BTVTED Equips Grade 12 MPNAG Students with Accessory Crafting Skills

Led by the Project Leader, Instr. Angeline V. Villareal, extensionists from Rizal Technological University’s (RTU) Bachelor in Technical-Vocational Teacher Education (BTVTED) Department, took the Mataas na Paaralang Neptali A. Gonzales (MPNAG) to equip 15 Grade 12 students with practical skills in accessory craftsmanship through the extension program titled “Accessory Craftsmanship: Materials and Methods” on March 23, 2026.

The program aims to promote students’ self-reliance and opportunities for income generation by introducing them to materials and methods used to create handmade accessories, allowing them to explore different techniques and approaches in crafting.

As an activity-based program, Accessory Craftsmanship: Materials and Methods focused on hands-on training sessions to actively engage the participants and impart practical skills. These training sessions were facilitated by student volunteers from the Department of BTVTED, majoring in Garments, Fashion, and Design, who ensured participants’ active engagement in the training.

Through collaborative and interactive activities, the program fostered a sense of community and shared learning among the participants while encouraging them to express creativity and develop their own unique design styles. The activity also highlighted the use of readily available and potentially sustainable materials, promoting resourcefulness and environmental awareness in accessory-making practices.

As part of its mission to provide accessible, high-quality education, RTU remains committed to sharing its faculty’s expertise and practical knowledge to support community development and promote sustainable entrepreneurship. Through this extension program, the BTVTED department exemplified the University’s commitment and the department’s strong position in the field of technical-vocational education.
